Odisha Revises Bus Fares Amid Rising Diesel Costs
Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority has announced a revision in bus fares across Odisha following a surge in diesel prices.
The cost of diesel has risen from Rs 92.62 per litre in March 2024 to Rs 95.87 per litre in May 2026, prompting the adjustment.
The revised fares apply to all stage carriages, including government and private buses, but exclude town buses. The new rates per kilometre are:
- Ordinary: 90 paise (up by 2 paise)
- Express: 94 paise (up by 2 paise)
- Deluxe: 131 paise (up by 4 paise)
- A.C. Deluxe: 159 paise (up by 4 paise)
- Super Deluxe: 247 paise (up by 6 paise)
The order, issued by the Transport Commissioner‑cum‑Chairman of the State Transport Authority, takes immediate effect.
Previous terms from 2021 and 2015 notifications remain valid.
Officials stated that the revision was necessary to offset operational costs for bus operators, ensuring continuity of services amid rising fuel expenses.
