BJP Ready for Odisha Panchayat, ULB Polls: Purandeswari
Bhubaneswar: BJP National Vice-President and Odisha in-charge D. Purandeswari has said the party is fully prepared for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Odisha, emphasising organisational strengthening and grassroots expansion across the state.
Arriving in Bhubaneswar along with BJP Odisha co-in-charge Swadesh Singh, Purandeswari expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness and highlighted the importance of coordination between the state government and the BJP organisation.
A key organisational meeting was held at the BJP state headquarters under the leadership of Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, party office-bearers, district presidents and other senior leaders.
Discussions focused on strengthening the party structure, reviewing ongoing programs and chalking out strategies for the upcoming local elections.
According to BJP General Secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy, party leaders reviewed organisational activities and preparations for the panchayat and municipal elections expected to be held next year.
The meeting also assessed the progress of the month-long “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,” launched on September 17, and discussed future outreach initiatives.
BJP leaders announced plans to organise the nationwide “Seva Jyoti” programme on October 7 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life, with events planned across all 30 districts of Odisha.
Later, Purandeswari participated in an “Angan Ki Utsav” programme at an anganwadi centre as part of the party’s public outreach campaign.
The BJP’s renewed focus on grassroots mobilisation comes at a time when the party is looking to expand its footprint in local governance bodies across Odisha, where the BJD remains a dominant force in panchayat and urban local institutions.
