Odisha CEO Launches Intensive Voter List Revision Drive

Bhubaneswar, May 2026: Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R.S. Gopalan convened a high‑level meeting with representatives of all seven recognised political parties to review the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

The drive aims to ensure inclusion of every eligible voter while removing ineligible names such as deceased, migrated, or shifted individuals.

Gopalan stressed that political parties are “active partners” in safeguarding democracy and urged them to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling station to monitor the revision process.

Parties raised issues including streamlined registration for new voters, challenges faced by migrant voters, and timely deletion of deceased or relocated names.

The Election Commission assured that valid suggestions will be considered and guidelines will be strictly followed.

Additional CEO Sushant Kumar Mishra, Joint CEO Gopinath Kuanr, and Deputy CEO Dr Lakshmiprasad Sahu also attended the meeting, outlining technical and administrative measures for smooth execution.

The SIR exercise is expected to strengthen transparency and accuracy in Odisha’s electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming polls.
