Nayagarh Quarry Tragedy: Missing Youth’s Body Found, Murder Suspected

Nayagarh: The body of a 34‑year‑old man, identified as Pratap Kumar Pattashani of Nuapada village, was discovered in a black stone quarry at Chandpur on May 17.

Pattashani had been missing since May 15, and his decomposed body was found by a local woman visiting the quarry.

Family members and villagers suspect foul play, alleging that the death may be linked to disputes over the stone crusher business operated by his father, Nakula Pattashani.

The strong odour from the site drew attention to the body, which was later recovered by Chandpur police.

Authorities have detained two suspects for questioning and sent the body for post‑mortem examination.

Police are investigating whether business rivalry or crusher‑related disputes triggered the suspected murder.
