Odisha Govt to Release Flood Compensation Before Dussehra
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced that compensation for rain- and flood‑affected districts will be disbursed before Dussehra.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari stated that all departments and district administrations must submit detailed damage reports by October 10 to ensure timely relief.
In the first phase, ₹261 crore has already been released, including ₹20 crore earmarked for South Odisha.
Final compensation will be distributed once the reports are consolidated.
The government has also taken strict action against negligence during the crisis. Chandbali BDO Sanjib Kumar Mahapatra has been suspended for failing to respond effectively during the floods.
Minister Pujari emphasised that negligence during natural disasters is “unpardonable.”
Acknowledging the efforts of frontline workers, the Minister expressed gratitude to ASHA and Anganwadi workers, NDRF, ODRAF, and government staff for their role in flood management.
