NHRC Team to Visit Kendrapara Over Chameli Ojha Assault

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has initiated a probe into the alleged assault on Tikhiri Sarpanch Chameli Ojha.

A three‑member NHRC team is scheduled to visit Kendrapara on October 5 to conduct an on‑ground investigation.

The incident reportedly took place on June 11 inside the chamber of the Mahakalapada Block Development Officer (BDO), where Ojha was allegedly assaulted and misbehaved with.

In an official communication, NHRC headquarters in New Delhi informed the Kendrapara Collector and Superintendent of Police about the visit.

The team will record statements from Mahakalapada police personnel, the BDO and his staff, eyewitnesses, the investigating officer, and the doctor who examined the victim.
