UP Pilgrim Missing in Subarnarekha River, Rescue Ops On
Balasore, Odisha: A pilgrim from Uttar Pradesh went missing while bathing in the Subarnarekha River near Basta in Balasore district.
The man, identified as Ashok Pathak, was travelling with his family from Ayodhya to the Puri Jagannath Temple and had stopped near Rajghat under Basta police station limits.
According to reports, Pathak slipped into deep waters due to a strong current while bathing.
His family members immediately raised an alarm, prompting rescue efforts by Fire Services and ODRAF teams.
Boats have been deployed to search the river, but strong currents are hampering operations.
Authorities continue their search, and the incident has raised concerns about safety measures for pilgrims visiting Odisha’s riverside ghats.
