Rayagada Police Recover Maoist Arms, Ammunition and Supplies in Forest Operation
Rayagada police achieved a major breakthrough in anti‑Maoist operations with the recovery of arms, ammunition, explosives, and daily supplies from a hidden dump in the Dhepagurha Reserve Forest.
Acting on intelligence provided by surrendered Maoists, a joint team of the District Volunteer Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a combing operation.
The Bomb Disposal Squad was deployed to neutralise potential IED threats during the search.
Recovered items included a .303 rifle, 37 rounds of ammunition, a magazine, cordex wire, gunpowder, Maoist literature, and daily‑use materials such as chappals, umbrellas, blankets, food items, and toiletries.
Empty cartridges were also found at the site.
Since January 2025, 16 Maoist cadres have surrendered in Rayagada, including senior leaders Nikhil and Indu.
Police continue regular combing operations with SOG, DVF, and CRPF to prevent Maoist resurgence in the district.
This recovery underscores the effectiveness of intelligence from surrendered cadres and the proactive measures taken by Odisha police to dismantle Maoist infrastructure.
