President Droupadi Murmu to Inaugurate Key Projects During Maiden Visit to Rourkela on April 21

Rourkela, April 13: President Droupadi Murmu will make her first visit to Rourkela on April 21, 2026, marking a significant occasion for the Sundargarh district.

She will arrive at Jharsuguda Airport and travel by helicopter to Rourkela, where she is scheduled to stay for five hours.

During her visit, the President will inaugurate four major projects worth Rs 158 crore, including the Integrated Command & Control Centre (Rs 48 crore), a Tribal Museum (Rs 40 crore), a Science Park & Planetarium (Rs 27 crore), and a Recreational Park (Rs 45 crore).

She will also address a public gathering at Sector‑13 Melon Padia ground, where more than 10,000 students are expected to attend.

The event will feature performances by 35 cultural troupes, showcasing Odisha’s rich tribal and folk traditions.

The projects are expected to boost education, tourism, and tribal culture preservation, strengthening Rourkela’s position as a hub of development and cultural heritage.
