Odisha CM Launches ‘Ame Janiba, Ama Budget’ Campaign to Simplify State Budget

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled the “Ame Janiba, Ama Budget” campaign to make the 2026–27 State Budget more accessible to citizens.

The initiative, running until April 14 across all panchayats, aims to explain budget provisions in simple terms and gather public feedback.

The Rs 3.10 lakh crore budget, 7% higher than last year, emphasises capital expenditure and sets ambitious longRs term goals: transforming Odisha into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and $1.5 trillion by 2047, raising per capita income to Rs 32 lakh, reducing multidimensional poverty to 5%, and boosting women’s workforce participation to 70%.

Key initiatives include the Bhubaneswar‑Cuttack‑Puri‑Paradeep Economic Corridor, National Waterway‑5, new port projects, and tourism development at Puri’s Samuka and Chilika Lake.

The government also pledged stronger women empowerment schemes (Subhadra, Lakhpati Didi, Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangal), new medical colleges and universities, and rural employment programs to curb distress migration.

Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo described the budget as “citizen‑centric,” while CM Majhi called it a “solid roadmap” for Samruddha Odisha.

Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Finance Principal Secretary Sanjeev Mishra, attended the launch workshop.
