Kandhamal Charts Roadmap for Tourism and Development
Kandhamal district is set to undergo a major transformation with tourism at the heart of its growth strategy.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg has outlined plans to upgrade Daringbadi’s Hill View Park, Nature Park, Coffee Garden, and nearby waterfalls, positioning the region as a prime eco‑tourism destination.
Agriculture and livelihood initiatives will complement tourism, with large‑scale cultivation of turmeric, spices, black pepper, and strawberries, alongside forest‑based products like honey and tamarind.
Improved packaging and market linkages are expected to boost local incomes.
Infrastructure development forms another pillar of the roadmap.
Projects include enhanced digital connectivity, irrigation expansion, PMGSY road implementation, railway connectivity, and power infrastructure upgrades.
The district also plans to strengthen social development through agri‑based industries, an integrated MSME park, model schools, hostels, healthcare facilities, libraries, and solar‑powered fencing to protect crops.
Together, these initiatives aim to accelerate Kandhamal’s growth by combining tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, and social development.
