Odisha Deputy CM Warns Fertiliser Dealers Against Ganja Cultivation

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has issued a stern warning to fertiliser dealers across the state, cautioning them against supplying agricultural inputs for illegal ganja cultivation.

Singh Deo, who also heads the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy departments, emphasised that fertilisers are meant to support legitimate farming practices and not to fuel the narcotics trade.

Reports have surfaced that fertilisers intended for crop production are being diverted to ganja fields.

The Deputy CM made it clear that strict punitive measures will be taken against violators, reiterating the government’s commitment to curb narcotics cultivation and safeguard resources for genuine farmers.

This warning forms part of Odisha’s broader crackdown on illegal ganja cultivation, aiming to protect both agriculture and public welfare.
