Orissa HC Clears Path for No-Confidence Vote Against Tikiri Sarpanch

The Orissa High Court has permitted the no-confidence proceedings against Tikiri Sarpanch Chameli Ojha of Mahakalapada block, Kendrapara district, to move forward.

While the voting process can take place, the court has directed that the results must not be declared without its permission.

Ojha had filed a petition challenging the motion, seeking to halt the process.

Her counsel, Sukanta Dalei, clarified that although the election will proceed, the outcome remains subject to further court orders.

Reports indicate that 21 out of 22 ward members supported the no-confidence motion, citing dissatisfaction with Ojha’s performance.

The case underscores ongoing tensions in Odisha’s panchayat politics and highlights the role of judicial oversight in local governance.
