Odisha Govt Meets Traders to Ensure Essential Commodities Supply, Price Stability

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government convened a high‑level meeting chaired by Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra to address the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and curb unwarranted price hikes.

Representatives from traders’ associations across districts joined senior officials, including Special Secretary Purandar Dharua and Deputy Director Deepak Satpathy, to discuss measures against hoarding and ensure steady market availability.

The government assured traders that it would consider demands for vegetable mandis in every district and dedicated business premises.

District Collectors will be engaged immediately to implement these steps.

Prominent traders such as Sudhakar Panda, Saktishankar Mishra, and Kabiraj Swain pledged full cooperation with the government to stabilise supply and prices.

The meeting reflects Odisha’s proactive stance on consumer welfare, balancing traders’ interests with public needs.
