Odisha’s Revenue Rises, Capex Surges as CM Majhi Calls for Efficiency
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s financial performance has shown strong growth in the first four months of the fiscal year.
Revenue receipts reached Rs 61,593 crore by July, marking a 7.3% increase compared to last year.
The state’s own revenue rose by 11.9%, driven by a 9.3% rise in tax collections and a 14.8% boost in non-tax revenue.
Capital expenditure surged by 20.2% to Rs 11,300 crore, while programme expenditure climbed 19.1% year-on-year.
The composition of revenue receipts highlighted Odisha’s growing fiscal independence: 31% from own tax revenue, 28% from non‑tax revenue, 31% from the state’s share in central taxes, and 10% from central grants.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, reviewing the performance at Lok Seva Bhawan, urged officials to sharpen efficiency in revenue collection and accelerate capital and programme spending.
He linked these efforts to the vision of a “Prosperous Odisha by 2036,” emphasising the need for large‑scale infrastructure investment.
The review meeting was attended by Finance Department Principal Secretary Sanjeev Mishra, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Saswata Mishra, Special Secretary Yamini Sarangi, and other senior officials.
