Odisha Orders Colleges to Reinforce Anti‑Ragging Measures Within 7 Days

The Higher Education Department of Odisha has directed all universities and colleges to strengthen their anti‑ragging mechanisms within seven days, ahead of the 2026–27 academic session.

The directive applies to public and private universities, deemed universities, government and aided colleges, Sanskrit institutions, and teacher education centres.

Institutions must reconstitute key committees including the Anti‑Ragging Committee, Squad, Monitoring Cell, Internal Committee under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, Student Grievance Redressal Committees, and counselling units.

To ensure transparency, colleges and universities are required to display the names, designations, email addresses, and phone numbers of committee members and nodal officers on notice boards and official websites.

Regional Directorates of Higher Education will monitor compliance through inspections and audits. Institutions failing to meet the seven‑day deadline risk administrative and disciplinary action.
