Nuapada, Odisha, January 16: In a late-night operation on January 15, Sinapali Police rescued nine bonded labourers, including three children, from the clutches of traffickers near the Odisha–Chhattisgarh border.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a Bolero vehicle transporting the victims to another state. The rescued group comprised two men, four women, and three children.
The operation was led by Officer Durga Madhab Bag, who confirmed that the vehicle was seized during the raid.
The broker, identified as Dinabandhu Sunani, managed to escape, but authorities have assured that a case will be registered under relevant laws. Police teams are actively searching for him to ensure accountability.
This rescue highlights the persistent issue of illegal labour trafficking in border districts, where vulnerable workers and children are often exploited.
Sinapali Police reiterated their commitment to protecting citizens from such exploitation and pledged continued vigilance against trafficking networks.
