Prabhat Biswal Set to Join BJP, Sparks Odisha Political Realignment
Bhubaneswar, July 12: In a significant political development, former Cuttack‑Choudwar MLA Prabhat Biswal is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today, marking a major realignment in Odisha’s political landscape.
According to party sources, the BJP has scheduled a large induction programme this afternoon where Biswal, along with several of his loyalists—including BJD councillors, youth leaders, and student wing members—may formally enter the saffron fold.
Speculation intensified after Biswal’s son, Souvik Biswal, visited the BJP’s state headquarters on Saturday.
The move is seen as strategically important, given Biswal’s influence in the Cuttack region, which could bolster BJP’s organisational strength ahead of future electoral battles.
Political observers note that this shift could reshape local equations and signal further churn within Odisha’s political circles.
All eyes are now on the BJP’s programme later today for formal confirmation.
