Mahanadi Superfast Celebrates 6th Anniversary with Powerful Call for Responsible AI Use in Media
Bhubaneswar, May 2 – In an era where artificial intelligence is transforming journalism at lightning speed, media professionals must treat it as a tool, not a master.
That was the clear message from senior officials and thought leaders at the glittering 6th anniversary celebration of the Hindi daily Mahanadi Superfast, published simultaneously from Cuttack (Odisha) and Chhattisgarh.
The event, held on Friday evening at Gita Gobinda Sadan auditorium on the occasion of International Labour Day, blended serious debate with heartfelt recognition.
Under the theme “AI Challenges: For Media Content”, the evening focused on how newspapers and digital platforms can harness AI for accuracy, speed, and public good — while guarding against misinformation, bias, and job losses.
PIB Additional Director General Akhil Kumar Mishra, the chief speaker, put it bluntly: “Technology is not bigger than man. But in today’s changed world, its use has become inevitable.
Media houses must remain extremely alert so that AI serves society’s interest through controlled and responsible application.”
Presiding over the function, senior journalist and Mahanadi Superfast Editor, Mr Abinash Mishra, set the tone for a balanced conversation on technology’s double-edged sword.

Chief guest Prasad Harichandan, former minister and veteran leader, echoed the caution. “Every individual, especially those in mass media, must adopt utmost vigilance while using artificial intelligence,” he said. “If not used in a regulated manner, its adverse impact on society will be inevitable.” He also made a passionate demand: posthumous Bharat Ratna for Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das and Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, the architects of separate Odisha statehood, urging the nation to honour their historic contributions to Odia soil.
Other distinguished guests included BJP senior leader Dr Murali Manohar Sharma, Angul-Sukinda Railway Project MD Dilip Kumar Samantray, Sushruta Hospital & Trauma Care CEO Chidatmika Khatua, and Capital Post Editor Surendra Kumar Sahu.
