CM Majhi Urges Tribal Development Councils to Work for Antyodaya, Preserve Tribal Heritage

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged newly appointed chairpersons and vice‑chairpersons of 23 Tribal Development Councils to work with the spirit of Antyodaya—serving the last mile of society.

Addressing the leaders at Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Centre, Majhi emphasised that governance must reach the poorest and most marginalised communities.

He encouraged council members to conduct field visits, identify local issues, and escalate them to district officials for timely resolution.

Stressing the balance between progress and heritage, Majhi echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi”, highlighting the importance of preserving tribal language, art, and culture alongside development.

The Chief Minister outlined several state initiatives, including reservation in technical education, the Shaheed Madho Singh Assistance Scheme, enhanced pre‑matric scholarships, and the CM Tribal Livelihood Mission.

He also noted central government support through programs like Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, and PM Janman, with Odisha receiving Rs 18,371 crore under Article 275(1) for tribal welfare.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg praised the inclusive model of appointing both male and female representatives to councils, aligning with Vision 2036.

Tribal Development Minister Nityananda Gond and senior officials also underscored grassroots development and safeguarding tribal heritage.
