Nuakhai Lagna Finalised: Nabanna Offering to Maa Samaleswari on September 15

Sambalpur: The auspicious timing (Lagna) for the Nuakhai festival has been finalised.

Priests and the Brahmapura Temple Trust Committee announced that Nabanna—the season’s first harvest—will be offered to Goddess Samaleswari between 9:40 AM and 9:54 AM on September 15, 2026.

Nuakhai, the most significant agrarian festival of Western Odisha, marks the beginning of the harvest season.

Families across districts will follow this timing to offer Nabanna to their local deities before partaking in the new crop.

Traditionally observed on the fifth day of the lunar fortnight of Bhadrab month, the festival symbolises gratitude to nature and community bonding.

The announcement ensures uniformity in rituals across the region, reinforcing the cultural and spiritual essence of Nuakhai.
