Amartya Bhattacharyya’s Lahari Wins Best Odia Film at 72nd National Film Awards

The Odia film industry has achieved a proud milestone as Amartya Bhattacharyya’s directorial Lahari secured the Best Odia Film honour at the 72nd National Film Awards, announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The awards, recognising films certified in 2024 by the CBFC, celebrated cinematic excellence across India.

While Article 370 was named Best Feature Film, the acting categories saw Yami Gautam win Best Actress, and Kartik Aaryan share the Best Actor award with veteran Mammootty.

Bhattacharyya, known for his distinctive storytelling and visually rich narratives, has once again brought Odia cinema into the national spotlight.

Lahari’s recognition underscores the growing strength of regional cinema and its ability to resonate with audiences beyond linguistic boundaries.
