Puri School Headmaster Suspended After Arrest in Alleged Job Fraud Case

Puri: The in-charge headmaster of Chandaneswar Nodal Upper Primary School in Odisha’s Puri district has been suspended following his arrest in connection with an alleged job fraud case.

According to reports, the accused, Amareshwar Kandi, allegedly collected a large sum of money from a youth from Khordha district by promising to secure him a teaching position in an Adarsh Vidyalaya.

The payments were reportedly made through digital transactions, including PhonePe and bank transfers.

The alleged fraud came to light when the victim discovered that the appointment letter issued to him was fake.

Subsequently, a complaint was lodged at Badagada Police Station in Bhubaneswar, prompting a police investigation.

Following the probe, police arrested Kandi and produced him before a court.

Acting on the development, the Block Education Officer (BEO) suspended him from service under the provisions of the Odisha Civil Services Rules, citing his continued detention in police and judicial custody for more than 48 hours.

During the suspension period, Government High School, Kanas, has been designated as his headquarters.

He has also been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission and to hand over all official and financial records to Assistant Teacher Geetanjali Behera.

To ensure that academic activities remain unaffected, education authorities have assigned Santosh Kumar Swain, CRCC of Chandaneswar Cluster, to oversee regular classes at the school.

The incident has raised concerns over fraudulent recruitment practices, with authorities continuing to investigate the matter.
