Tigress Jinnat Welcomes Four Cubs in Similipal
Similipal Tiger Reserve witnessed a major conservation milestone as tigress Jinnat gave birth to four healthy cubs on May 28, 2026.
Forest officials confirmed that the cubs are thriving under close monitoring, with special protection teams deployed to safeguard the mother and her offspring.
Jinnat, originally translocated from Maharashtra’s Tadoba‑Andhari Tiger Reserve in November 2024, has been under continuous observation since her arrival. Wildlife experts hailed her successful motherhood as a boost to tiger population growth in Odisha, strengthening Similipal’s role as a critical tiger habitat.
Authorities emphasised that this development reflects the success of ongoing conservation strategies, including habitat protection and scientific monitoring.
The news has been welcomed by conservationists and wildlife enthusiasts as a positive step toward ensuring the survival of the endangered species.
