Relief in Baripada: Kulsum Nigar Returns Safely from Nepal Floods

Baripada’s Kulsum Nigar, who was reported missing during the devastating Nepal floods on August 26, has safely returned to Odisha, bringing immense relief to her family and community.

The Odisha government, in coordination with India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Nepalese authorities, worked tirelessly to trace stranded tourists.

Rescue teams evacuated visitors near the Trishuli River using ropeways before flying them to Gorakhpur and Kolkata.

Alongside Kulsum, Deepika Ekka from Sundargarh also survived and returned home.

Several other tourists from Odisha, part of a group of 51, have reached Kolkata and are expected to arrive at Bhadrak Railway Station soon.

Triggered by a glacial collapse, the floods have claimed 903 lives and left 4,247 missing, including foreign nationals.

Over 20,000 personnel remain engaged in rescue and relief operations.

Kulsum’s safe return has reassured families across Odisha, offering hope amid one of Nepal’s worst natural disasters in recent years.
