Odisha SEC Launches Pilot Voter‑List Verification in Bhubaneswar
The Odisha State Election Commission (SEC) will begin a pilot voter‑list verification drive in Bhubaneswar from September 3 to 11, 2026, ahead of the 2027 Panchayat and Urban elections.
The pilot will cover three Assembly constituencies under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation — Bhubaneswar North (Ward 10), Central (Ward 35), and Ekamra (Ward 52).
Following this, a statewide door‑to‑door survey will be conducted from October 26 to November 7, 2026, across rural and urban constituencies.
The initiative aims to correct inaccuracies in voter rolls, resolve unclear house numbers, and address overlapping ward boundaries that have historically led to low urban voter turnout.
Teams led by Revenue Level Officers (RLOs) and field staff will visit households to verify voter details.
State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi urged citizens to cooperate, stressing that the exercise will help prepare a clean, error‑free, and transparent voter list.
