Rayagada’s Maa Majhighariani Temple Hundi Yields Big Donations

Rayagada: The nine hundis (donation boxes) of Maa Majhighariani Temple in Rayagada were opened on Monday after two months, amid tight police security.

The process began at 10 AM in the presence of Endowment Department officials, the local Tahasildar, RI, and temple management members.

Over 100 personnel, including women from self‑help groups (SHGs), volunteers, and students, were engaged in counting the donations.

The temple committee expects contributions to exceed Rs 50 lakh this time.

The collected amount will be deposited in Rayagada Union Bank, with interest used for temple development and facilities for devotees.

In the previous opening on June 29, 2026, the temple received Rs 1.26 crore, including cash, UPI donations, gold, silver, and foreign currency.
