IMD Warns of Thunderstorms in Six Odisha Districts
Bhubaneswar, Sept 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for six districts of Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by rain and lightning within the next three hours.
According to the IMD bulletin released at 10:25 AM, the districts likely to be affected are Baleshwar, Mayurbhanj, Baragada, Nuapada, Balangir, and Jagatsinghpur.
Residents in these areas have been advised to remain alert and plan their movement cautiously to avoid exposure to adverse weather conditions.
The IMD has urged people to stay indoors during lightning activity, avoid sheltering under trees, and refrain from using mobile phones outdoors.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
This alert comes as Odisha continues to experience variable monsoon activity, with localised thunderstorms posing risks to both rural and urban populations.
