Hydroponic Weed Worth ₹4 Crore Seized at Bhubaneswar Airport
Bhubaneswar, May 12: In a major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) seized 11 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis at Biju Patnaik International Airport.
The contraband, valued at nearly Rs 4 crore, was concealed inside luggage bags carried by two passengers from Tamil Nadu who had arrived from Bangkok on an IndiGo flight early Tuesday morning.
The duo was detained and is currently being interrogated to trace the source of the consignment and its delivery network in India.
Authorities suspect the involvement of an interstate or international drug trafficking racket.
The seizure highlights growing concerns over the smuggling of high‑value narcotics into Odisha through air routes.
