Burla Youth Survives Brutal Sword Attack Near Police Station

Burla witnessed a violent clash late Sunday night when a 24‑year‑old youth, Biki Ray, was brutally assaulted near Jagannath Temple close to the Burla police station.

The attack is believed to be a fallout of a four‑year‑old murder case involving rival groups.

According to police, the assault was led by Tulu Banchohar (27) of Mahatabnagar, who has a history of 17 criminal cases across multiple stations.

Biki, who had earlier killed a relative of Tulu in 2022, was recently released on bail.

Around 9 PM, Biki—reportedly intoxicated—was surrounded by Tulu and his associates and attacked with swords and axes, leaving him with severe head and body injuries.

Local residents rushed him to VIMSAR hospital, where doctors confirmed he is out of danger.

Police have arrested Tulu, while five other accused remain absconding. Raids are underway to apprehend the remaining culprits.
