Orissa High Court Grants Bail to Former MLA Bikram Panda in Pitabas Panda Murder Case

The Orissa High Court has granted conditional bail to former Brahmapur MLA Bikram Panda in connection with the murder of lawyer Pitabas Panda.

The decision comes after his earlier bail plea was rejected by the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Brahmapur.

Pitabas Panda was shot dead on October 6, 2025, near his residence while returning home late at night.

He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police investigations identified Bikram Panda and former Brahmapur Municipal Corporation Mayor Pintu Das as the prime conspirators.

Authorities allege that the murder was driven by political rivalry, personal disputes, and financial motives.

The case has sparked widespread debate in Odisha, raising questions about justice, political influence, and law enforcement accountability.
