Hirakud Dam Shuts Two More Gates, Monitors Rising Water

Sambalpur: Authorities at Hirakud Dam have closed two more sluice gates, leaving only one gate on the left and one on the right side open for floodwater discharge.

Earlier in the morning, four gates were operational, but fresh instructions reduced the number to two.

The reservoir level has climbed to 624.69 feet, with inflow and outflow gradually declining.

Current inflow stands at 1,37,750 cusecs, while outflow has dropped to 1,26,703 cusecs.

Breakdown of outflow shows 91,680 cusecs released through the spillway, 32,082 cusecs via the power channel, 229 cusecs for industrial use, and 2,712 cusecs through canals.

Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, balancing rising water levels with controlled discharge to ensure safety downstream.
