Sambalpur Police Crackdown: 86 Criminals Arrested, Major Seizures in Six Days

Sambalpur police have launched a six‑day intensive campaign to restore law and order across the district, resulting in the arrest of 86 hardened criminals and the resolution of 49 pending cases.

Between May 11 and 16, officers executed 50 warrants and targeted networks involved in narcotics, illegal arms, and illicit liquor trade.

Two major traffickers were arrested under the NDPS Act, with seizures including 8.31 kg of ganja, cash, a car, five mobile phones, and nearly 1,200 bottles of banned cough syrup.

In separate raids, police recovered six country‑made pistols, 20 live rounds, and two luxury cars.

The Excise Department registered 36 cases, confiscating 309.55 litres of foreign, country‑made, and hand‑brewed liquor.

Traffic enforcement was also intensified, with late‑night block checks catching 45 drunk drivers and fines amounting to Rs 4.31 lakh.

The crackdown highlights Sambalpur police’s coordinated effort to curb crime and strengthen public safety across the district.
