Odisha Tightens Security Ahead of Vice President’s July 9 Visit
Bhubaneswar, July 4: Odisha is gearing up for Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s visit on July 9, 2026, with a high‑level preparatory meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at Lok Seva Bhavan.
The meeting reviewed arrangements across departments, focusing on security, traffic management, medical preparedness, sanitation, fire safety, and uninterrupted power and water supply.
Officials were directed to ensure seamless coordination and foolproof arrangements.
During his visit, the Vice President will inaugurate the National Launch Programme of “Letter of Authorisation” for Indian flagged vessels to fish in the high seas.
He will also grace the 15th Convocation of NISER, Khordha, delivering the Convocation Address as Chief Guest.
Senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, DGP Y. B. Khurania, Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary N. Thirumala Naik, and Principal Secretary N. B. S. Rajput attended the meeting.
Departments have been instructed to complete responsibilities on time to ensure a smooth visit.
