10 Odisha Workers Recover and Return Home After Tamil Nadu Gas Leak

Bhubaneswar: Ten Odia migrant workers affected by an ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing unit in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district have safely returned home after recovering from treatment.

All ten workers, nine from Keonjhar and one from Jajpur, were discharged from hospitals in Tiruvallur and Chennai before being brought back to Odisha by train.

The Odisha Labour Department coordinated their travel, with district labour officers ensuring their safe arrival at their native villages.

Transport arrangements included a special van for the Keonjhar group and a car for the Jajpur worker.

Odisha Labour Commissioner confirmed their return in a post on X.

Earlier, on June 27, 62 Odia workers affected in the same incident were also repatriated after medical care.

The state government’s swift intervention highlights its commitment to migrant worker welfare during industrial accidents.
