Kalahandi Family Hospitalised After Eating Wild Mushrooms

Bhubaneswar/Kalahandi: A family of five from Phukera village in Kalahandi district was hospitalised after consuming wild mushrooms collected from the forest.

The victims—Nila Majhi (40), his wife Laxmi Majhi (35), and their three minor children—fell ill shortly after dinner, experiencing severe vomiting, stomach pain, and dizziness.

Relatives rushed them to Kalyansinghpur Community Health Centre, where doctors provided immediate treatment.

All five are now reported to be stable.

Medical staff have warned villagers against consuming unidentified wild mushrooms, especially during the monsoon season when cases of poisoning rise across rural Odisha.
