Odisha Consumer Commission Halts Proceedings Against Hrithik Roshan in Soft Drink Ad Case
The Odisha State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has temporarily stayed proceedings against Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan in a case involving a soft drink advertisement.
The complaint, filed in Kalahandi district, alleged that Roshan’s endorsement misled an 11‑year‑old boy into believing the beverage could provide energy and overcome fear, prompting him to imitate stunts shown in the commercial.
The district consumer panel had admitted the case and issued notices to Roshan and the manufacturer, rejecting Roshan’s plea to be removed from the proceedings.
Roshan challenged the decision before the State Commission in Cuttack.
On July 4, 2026, the Commission granted an interim stay, directing the complainant and the company to submit responses before deciding whether to continue or dismiss the case.
Advocates Tirtha Kumar Sahoo and Shubham Satpathy represented Roshan during the hearing.
The Commission will review submissions from both sides before issuing its final order.
