Prez Murmu Visits Ganjam, Prays at Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple

President Droupadi Murmu, on the second day of her Odisha tour, visited Ganjam district and offered prayers at Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple and Nilakantheshwar Shiv Temple in Taptapani.

Accompanied by Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, she travelled 55 km from Berhampur under tight security after arriving aboard the “President’s Special” train from Bhubaneswar.

At Taptapani, the President bathed in the natural sulphur hot spring, performed rituals inside the shrine, and had lunch at Panthanivas guest house.

Hundreds of tribals gathered outside the temple to greet her, and she warmly interacted with them, distributing chocolates to children.

Taptapani, known for its hot sulphuric spring and tribal worship of Goddess Kandhuni, remains a popular destination for visitors, especially during winter.

The President’s train journey was scheduled considering IMD’s rain forecast, with her private rail car equipped with bedrooms, dining space, and a kitchen.
