Odisha Govt Seals 10 MoUs to Transform Healthcare & Medical Education

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark move to strengthen healthcare delivery and medical education, the Odisha Government signed ten Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading national and international institutions at Kharavela Bhavan.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling hailed the agreements as a “historic day” for the state, emphasising guidance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The collaborations span trauma care, Ayurveda, diagnostics, patient support, child health, mental health, and climate‑smart infrastructure.

AIIMS New Delhi will establish a Trauma Care Centre of Excellence, while the All India Institute of Ayurveda will promote traditional knowledge systems.

NABL will accredit labs in district hospitals, and Amrita Hospital, Kochi will provide free congenital heart disease surgeries for children.

Other partners include IFC (drug warehouse network), Adani Group’s Seva Daan Aarogya Foundation (rest houses for patient attendants), Tata Steel Foundation and Kaivalya Education Foundation (Project Swasth), Antara Foundation, and Health System Transformation Platform.

Tele‑MANAS at SCB Medical College, Cuttack will also be upgraded to expand mental health counselling.

These initiatives aim to modernise Odisha’s healthcare ecosystem, expand access to underserved communities, and integrate traditional and modern medical education.
