Odisha Schools Closed in Six Districts Amid Heavy Rainfall

The Odisha government has announced the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres in six districts—Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, and Boudhagada—due to continuous heavy rainfall.

The directive applies to government, government‑aided, and private institutions.

Officials stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard children and staff from potential risks caused by waterlogging, flooding, and unsafe commuting conditions.

Emergency response teams have been placed on alert, while district control rooms are closely monitoring the situation.

Parents and residents have been urged to follow official advisories and remain vigilant until weather conditions improve.

Authorities emphasised that the closures are temporary but necessary to ensure public safety.
