Odisha Vigilance Nabs Nayagarh JE in ₹1.36 Lakh Bribe Trap
Bhubaneswar, May 16: Odisha Vigilance officials trapped Keshab Subudhi, Junior Engineer of Bhapur Rural Works Section, Nayagarh, while he accepted a bribe of Rs 1.36 lakh from a contractor.
The money was handed over through Ashutosh Baliarsingh, a private supervisor engaged by Subudhi.
The bribe was demanded to clear bills for construction and maintenance work under the Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana (MMSY) 2021–22 in Khandapara and to refund the contractor’s security deposit.
Despite repeated requests, Subudhi allegedly delayed measurements and the release of funds until the bribe was paid.
Vigilance officers caught both accused at Subudhi’s official quarters in Khandapara, recovering the tainted money.
Searches are underway at two of Subudhi’s properties to detect disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Investigation against both accused is ongoing.
