Odisha CM Releases Biography of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, Vows Justice in 2008 Murder Case

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday unveiled Vedanta Kesari Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati: Kruti O Byaktitwa, a bilingual biography authored by Bipin Bihari Nanda and Banchhanidhi Panda.

The book highlights the life and contributions of Swami Laxmanananda, revered for his work in tribal empowerment, women’s education, and resistance against illegal conversions.

Majhi announced several initiatives to honour Swamiji’s legacy, including renaming Phulbani Medical College after him, sanctioning Rs 13 crore for heritage conservation at Jalespatta Ashram, and building a 300-seat girls’ hostel.

He also declared centenary celebrations starting August 21 to spread Swamiji’s ideals across villages and universities.

Addressing the 2008 murder case, Majhi accused the previous government of negligence and alleged conspiracy in missing Justice Naidu Commission files.

He assured that the Crime Branch will investigate thoroughly and that culprits will face justice.

RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale described Swamiji as a mahapurush who awakened religious consciousness, while Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hailed him as a freedom fighter and pioneer of the Garjat movement.

The event was attended by spiritual leaders, dignitaries, and the book’s authors.
