Cyclone Arnab Disrupts Travel Across Eastern Coast; Over 50 Trains and Multiple Flights Cancelled
Bhubaneswar: Severe Cyclonic Storm Arnab has caused widespread disruption to transportation services across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, forcing the cancellation of more than 50 train services and multiple flights as authorities prioritised passenger safety.
The cyclone made landfall along the Andhra Pradesh-Yanam coast, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and adverse weather conditions to several coastal districts.
In response, railway and aviation authorities implemented precautionary measures to minimise risks and prevent accidents.
According to railway officials, over 50 train services were cancelled, while several others were short-terminated or diverted due to weather-related concerns.
Major railway hubs, including Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam, witnessed operational challenges as officials worked to manage disruptions and ensure passenger safety.
Air travel was also severely affected. Multiple flights operating to and from coastal airports such as Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry were cancelled by major carriers, including Air India and IndiGo.
Airport authorities advised passengers to verify flight schedules with their respective airlines before commencing their journey.
Disaster management teams, railway personnel, and airport authorities remain on high alert as the cyclone continues to impact the region.
Efforts are underway to inspect infrastructure, clear debris, and restore normal services as soon as weather conditions permit.
Authorities have urged residents and travellers to follow official advisories and avoid unnecessary movement until the situation improves.
