Supreme Court Cancels N. Bhaskar Rao’s Bail, Orders Surrender in Two Weeks
In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court has cancelled the bail granted to former Rajya Sabha MP N. Bhaskar Rao and directed him to surrender before the concerned authorities within two weeks.
The apex court set aside the earlier bail order, observing that courts must provide cogent and reasoned justification while granting bail in serious cases.
The Bench emphasised that judicial discretion in bail matters should be exercised carefully and in accordance with established legal principles.
The Supreme Court also reiterated that when a bail order has previously been challenged or cancelled, any subsequent plea for bail must be supported by fresh grounds or a material change in circumstances.
The Court noted that the absence of adequate reasoning in granting bail can warrant judicial intervention.
With the latest order, N. Bhaskar Rao has been directed to surrender within the stipulated two-week period.
The ruling is being viewed as an important reaffirmation of the principle that bail orders must be supported by clear legal reasoning and cannot be granted mechanically.
Legal observers believe the judgment strengthens judicial accountability in bail adjudication and underscores the Supreme Court’s commitment to ensuring consistency in the administration of justice.
