Law Minister Reviews Srimandir Infrastructure, Dhadi Darshan Rollout on Horizon

Puri: The Odisha government is moving closer to introducing a structured Dhadi Darshan system at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, aiming to provide devotees with a safer and more organised darshan experience.

The proposed initiative was reviewed during an infrastructure inspection conducted by Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.

During the visit, the minister examined arrangements being planned for the implementation of the queue-based darshan system.

He stated that the government is focused on ensuring smooth movement of devotees inside the temple premises while addressing crowd-management challenges, particularly during festivals and peak pilgrimage periods.

According to officials, a model of the proposed system has already been presented to representatives of the Pratihari Nijog, while consultations with other servitor groups are underway.

Feedback from stakeholders is expected to play a key role before the system is formally introduced.

The proposed arrangement includes specially designed ramps and a regulated movement pattern that will guide devotees through designated entry and exit routes.

Authorities believe this approach will significantly reduce congestion and improve crowd flow within the temple complex.

The minister emphasised that temporary measures such as ropes and barricades may not be sufficient to handle large crowds effectively.

Instead, a permanent and systematic solution is being planned to ensure convenience and safety for pilgrims visiting the shrine throughout the year.

Special provisions are also being considered for women, children, senior citizens, and differently-abled devotees to ensure a more inclusive darshan experience.

Once consultations are completed and necessary approvals are secured, the authorities are expected to move forward with trial implementation of the Dhadi Darshan system.

The initiative is expected to enhance crowd management and improve the overall pilgrimage experience at the revered Jagannath Temple, one of India’s most important spiritual destinations.
