CMO Missing Files: Top Odisha Officials Summoned by Police
Bhubaneswar, July 15: The Capital Police Station has issued summonses to two senior officials in connection with the disappearance of sensitive files from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Former IT Secretary Manoj Kumar Mishra and retired IAS officer Rajesh Verma, currently Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), have been directed to appear on July 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The summons, issued under Section 179 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, relates to Capital P.S. Case No. 460, registered on June 10, 2026.
The case involves charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including criminal conspiracy.
Investigators revealed that two highly sensitive files containing critical state government decisions went missing from the CMO on June 10.
A special investigation team led by an ACP, assisted by two Additional Inspectors-in-Charge, is probing the matter.
Officials from the Home Department have already been questioned, and investigators are focusing on how and when the files disappeared.
The summons, signed by Bipin Bihari Hota, Additional IIC of Capital Police Station, states that both officials “appear to be acquainted with the facts and circumstances” of the case and must cooperate fully.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security lapses at the highest administrative levels, sparking discussions across Odisha’s governance circles.
