Bhubaneswar Caps Petrol and Diesel Sales to Prevent Black Marketing

Bhubaneswar, April 25: Authorities in Bhubaneswar have imposed strict limits on fuel sales to curb black marketing and hoarding.

Petrol stations across the city are now restricted to selling a maximum of 50 litres of petrol and 500 litres of high‑speed diesel per transaction.

Officials clarified that the move is not due to shortages but is aimed at preventing misuse, particularly in bulk transactions where industrial and commercial diesel prices differ.

Petrol pump operators have been warned of strict action, including suspension of supply, if they fail to comply.

Exceptions will be made for larger vehicles, provided valid documentation is produced.

Authorities have urged both operators and consumers to cooperate, stressing that the restrictions are designed to ensure fair distribution and transparency in fuel sales.
