Balianta Murder Case: Odisha CID Arrests Prime Accused Panchanan Badjena and Ranjit Rana

Bhubaneswar, May 19: In a major breakthrough, the Odisha Crime Branch’s CID unit has arrested two prime accused in the sensational Balianta murder case.

Panchanan Badjena alias Kalia and Ranjit Rana were apprehended from Ranpur jungle in Nayagarh district following concrete evidence linking them to the brutal assault on May 7 in the Bhingarpur–Kaja area under Balianta Police Station.

With these arrests, the total number of accused taken into custody rises to 15, including 11 detained earlier by local police.

The case is registered under sections 103(1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Senior officers are supervising the ongoing probe, with efforts continuing to trace and arrest other individuals involved.

The incident, which shocked Odisha, has drawn widespread public attention, and authorities have assured that justice will be delivered swiftly.
