Thalapathy Vijay Announces Retirement: Jan Nayagan to Be His Final Film

Tamil cinema’s beloved superstar Thalapathy Vijay has officially announced his retirement from acting, marking the end of a remarkable 33-year career.

The actor revealed that Jan Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, will be his farewell film as he transitions fully into politics.

The announcement came during the audio launch of Jan Nayagan in Malaysia, where Vijay addressed thousands of fans with an emotional speech. “Only one thing matters to me.

People come to theatres for me and stand in line. That is why I want to stand for them for the next 30 to 33 years. For these very fans, I am retiring from cinema,” he said.

Vijay began his journey as a child artist at age 10 in Vetri and made his debut as a lead actor at 18 with Naalaiya Theerpu (1992).

Over the decades, he rose to become one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, earning a loyal fan base across generations.

In 2024, Vijay launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, signalling his formal entry into public life.

The party is expected to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in 2026, setting the stage for a new chapter in its career.

Fans across the globe have expressed mixed emotions—sadness at his departure from cinema, but excitement for his political journey.

With Jan Nayagan poised to be his final cinematic outing, anticipation is running high for both the film’s release and his future in politics.
