Awarapan 2 Shatters Records With Advance Bookings, Surpasses Original’s Lifetime Collection
Emraan Hashmi’s much‑anticipated sequel Awarapan 2 has set the box office buzzing even before release.
Within just 48 hours of advance sales, the film sold over 1.3 lakh tickets, generating nearly Rs 4 crore for opening day bookings.
The pre‑release gross of Rs 9 crore has already eclipsed the lifetime net earnings of the original Awarapan (2007), which stood at around Rs 7.7 crore.
Trade analysts predict a massive opening in the Rs 15–20 crore range, potentially marking Hashmi’s biggest career debut.
The film is also eyeing a Rs 100 crore worldwide weekend, fueled by strong buzz and cult nostalgia from the first instalment.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi reprising his role as Shivam Pandit, alongside Shabana Azmi, Disha Patani, and Suvinder Vicky.
Despite clashing with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 on August 14, early momentum suggests Awarapan 2 could dominate the Independence Day weekend.
